Technical leadership

  • Technical reference for a team of four developers after the Technical Leader left: priorities, implementation decisions, unblocking the team and code quality.
  • Mentoring and code review for junior developers. Onboarding of new joiners.
  • Tracking how the developers on the team are progressing and giving them continuous feedback, both here and previously at BBVA.
  • Technical point of contact for the client, translating business requirements into work for the team.

Senior Java Developer · Acting technical reference for the team
  • Stepped up as the team's technical reference when the Technical Leader left. I set priorities and allocate work alongside the Scrum Master, make the implementation calls, mentor junior developers, run code reviews, track how the team is progressing and give continuous feedback, and act as the technical point of contact for the client.
  • Three greenfield projects in three years for Mutua Madrileña's motor insurance business: policy endorsements, quotes, estimates, requests and consolidations, from requirements refinement through to production.
  • Java, Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA on PostgreSQL. REST APIs with OpenAPI, API-first. JUnit, Mockito and SonarQube for quality. Deployment with Docker, Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Built three automations for our own development workflow using GitHub Copilot in agent mode: project bootstrapping, service and controller scaffolding, and branch and dependency management.

Qindel Group — Madrid, Spain · April 2021 – December 2022
Senior Java Developer
  • Handed the service over to an incoming supplier: wrote the system documentation and paired with their engineers on live incidents until they could run it on their own.
  • Migrated the transactional platform behind Inditex's main retail chains (Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Uterqüe) from a Java monolith to microservices with REST APIs. A year-long programme in an eight-person Scrum team.
  • Ran ongoing development and production support of the migrated system after the programme closed, in a team of three developers and a Technical Leader.
BBVA Technology in Europe — Madrid, Spain · January 2020 – April 2021
Senior Fullstack Developer
  • Coordinated a team of three developers: allocating work, resolving technical and team friction, and taking part in the area's technical decisions.
  • Maintained and evolved corporate applications. Java backend with microservices and REST APIs, frontend on BBVA's in-house Cells framework.

  • Built traffic control systems for rail and metro networks rolled out in Germany, India, Brazil and Australia, adapting a Java product to each country's regulations and each client's requirements.
  • Scrum team of six to eight people working on rail operations software.
  • International environment with English as the working language: technical documentation, email and review meetings with the development teams in Germany and India.
